I came across your site tonight while following up on some information my
aunt gave me concerning my uncle's service in WWII.  I am sorry to report
that my father's brother, Harold O.Hand, died on April 15, 1995, at age 72.
He was a brilliant and funny man, and is greatly missed.  I regret that I
did not start compiling my family history sooner, as I would certainly have
enjoyed hearing Uncle Harold's stories of his gallant service.  I know that
he received the Air Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters, as well as the
Distinguished Flying Cross.  If any of your readers have any memories of him
I would appreciate hearing from them and sharing these stories with my aunt
Thank you for this site, which has given me some insight into his service
time.

Sincerely,
    Nancy Hand SeDoris

My name is Harold Hubert Hensel.  I was named after my Uncle Harold Egenes
and my Cousin Hubert Egenes. I am attaching a photo of Hubert that I thought
you might like to have.(See Photo Page 6) I was born 3/16/40 but I can remember standing
out in my back yard with my mother, waving my flag as Hubert flew over our farm near
Auburn, Iowa.  He was in formation with two other planes. He was very close
to the top of the windmill (60 ft) and I could clearly see him waving at us.
It looked like the three planes had their wings bolted together.  I believe
he was in between coming from the Pacific and going to Europe. I would be
interested in hearing from anyone who knew him.

Thank you
Harold Hubert Hensel

My Dad said he was in the 363rd Fighter Squadron of the 357th fighter group.  I didn't see his name on your webpage of lost members.  Vincent J. Inglese is the name. He told me he met up with the group on the way to Europe.  Many of the group came from California and still needed a mechanic when they past through NY.  That is when he was assigned.

While looking at the list I found the John Landis who my dad says was his partner.   Another name I didn't see was Foy who he says was one of his pilots.

Can you direct me to sites where he might be able to contact some of the men from his team.Anyone
that may have known my Father I would like to here from.

thank you,
Nick Inglese

Hello 357th.

My Father Walter L. Parker was a navigator and he flew in a B-24 named Sacktime that was rammed on 4/7/45. It was part of the 467th which had red tails with a white diagonal stripe. His plane was escorted to safety by a fighter from the 357th Fighter Group. I know that Maj. Donald C. McGee and Maj Leonard K. Carson were the Officers leading the missions. Does anyone remember this event that took place over Krummel or Madgenburg, Germany. Can anyone tell who the pilot of the fighter was or put me in touch with the Officers leading the mission. I am writing a book and would like to credit them by name with saving Sacktime and its crew. Thank You.

Paul A. Parker
